Arrive Singapore
Day 1: Thursday 8 November
Arrive at the Shangri-La Hotel Singapore and relax before tonight’s Welcome Dinner.
Singapore
Day 2: Friday 9 November
Embark Ship
Amid the hustle and bustle of the city, we slip past designer boutiques and rustic flea markets with our local guide. Colonial buildings stand next to soaring skyscrapers. Street vendors tempt us with their fragrant offerings.
We join Silver Muse and enjoy the first of many lunches on board. Enjoy a glass of Champagne as you settle in to your suite. Singapore’s glitzy harbour dazzles this evening.
At Sea
Day 3: Saturday 10 November
Explore your new home during a relaxing day at sea. Book in for a massage or spend the day by the pool with a cocktail in hand.
Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam)
Day 4: Sunday 11 November
Our passage north across the South China Sea has taken us to Vietnamese shores.
Despite being renamed Ho Chi Minh City, most Vietnamese still refer to the city as Saigon.
Our afternoon discovery includes City Hall, Reunification hall and the sprawling Ben Thanh Market. You will be surprised at what you can find here. At the site of the former US Embassy, we recall images of the dramatic helicopter evacuation of 1975.
Silver Muse stays docked in the city overnight, allowing more time for us to explore.
Ho Chi Minh City
Day 5: Monday 12 November
The morning is yours to enjoy at leisure in Ho Chi Minh City. Or, embark on a Your World experience.
- Choose to do some last minute bargain hunting in the bustling markets.
- Tour the Cu Chi Tunnels. Your guide will shed light on the incredible network of tunnels built by the Viet Cong during the Vietnam War.
- Learn the fundamentals of traditional Vietnamese cuisine at GRAIN by Luke Cooking School, founded by celebrity chef Luke Nguyen.
The glittering city fades into darkness as we set sail tonight.
At Sea
Day 6: Tuesday 13 November
A relaxing day at sea is a welcome interlude from the frenetic pace of Ho Chi Minh City. Eight restaurants serve up a range of impeccable meals throughout the day.
Hoi An or Hue
Day 7: Wednesday 14 November
The white sand beaches of the east coast are wonderfully complemented by graceful colonial cities. Design your day with a choice of Your World experiences.
- On a full-day tour we peruse the Museum of Cham Sculpture in Da Nang, then head for Hoi An. This charming riverside city is perfect for exploring by foot. History lives on at every turn as we discover the blend of Vietnamese, Chinese and Japanese influences. We have time to shop and make a photo-stop at Marble Mountain.
- The imperial city of Hue embraces a striking array of architecture. A full day gives us time to explore Thien My Pagoda, the Palace of Supreme Harmony and the Imperial Citadel, where we find Nine Holy Cannons.
Ha Long Bay
Day 8: Thursday 15 November
Ethereal green waters and limestone formations embellish the horizon. We arrive at World Heritage-listed Ha Long Bay today.
We disembark our ship to join a local junk, spending the afternoon on the superbly coloured waters. Imposing karst formations, some topped in lush jungle, dwarf our boat. Between untouched islands and dim caves, fishing boats trundle across shimmering bays.
Over the course of the afternoon you may like to jump aboard a kayak. With every motion of our paddles, the famous peaks become ever closer.
Hanoi
Day 9: Friday 16 November
Today is spent exploring Vietnam’s capital, Hanoi. Wide boulevards and French architecture contrast with a constant weave of bicycles, cars and scooters. Tiny alleyways hide markets and street food vendors.
With a local guide, we see how French colonialism and Vietnamese tradition converge. The Temple of Literature, Ba Dinh Square and One Pillar Pagoda are among many highlights of our city tour. Wind your way through the busy city streets aboard a cyclo before lunch at Wild Rice restaurant. At glorious colonial mansion in the French Quarter, we feast on contemporary Vietnamese cuisine.
At Sea
Day 10: Saturday 17 November
Time to reflect with a peaceful day at sea. Further east we cruise towards China.
Perhaps you’ll call on your butler and order breakfast in bed or sit out on your veranda to enjoy the panoramic ocean views. The day is then yours to make the most of the amenities aboard Silver Muse. The chance to unwind with a cognac in the Connoisseurs Corner is the ideal way to end a perfect day on the water.
Hong Kong
Day 11: Sunday 18 November
Disembark Ship
Hong Kong, the very definition of a city that never quite switches off. Here, East meets West in a quest for commercial success. We disembark Silver Muse and delve deeper.
Amongst the spiralling chaos, a sensory feast, we deconstruct the city. Ride the Peak Tram to Victoria Peak for panoramic views of Hong Kong. A sea of steel and glass glitters before us. From Aberdeen Fishing Village, we cruise aboard a sampan before browsing the famous markets of Stanley. What treasures will we find? It’s a treat to finish our journey at The Peninsula Hong Kong. There’s certainly no finer residence.
We get together one final time for a Farewell Dinner. While we don’t want to spoil the surprise, we can guarantee tonight’s send-off will be one to remember.
Depart Hong Kong
Day 12: Monday 19 November
Farewell your fellow travellers after breakfast. We hope to see you on your next Captain’s Choice adventure.

Powerhouse of the Chinese economy, playground for the country’s emerging elite. China is changing at a fast pace, and nowhere is the pace more accelerated than in Shanghai.
We fly from Hong Kong and arrive in Shanghai this afternoon. Transfer to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, on the banks of the Huangpu River. Take your time settling in, this spectacular residence is certainly a place to enjoy. The energetic city spins an intoxicating web just outside the hotel’s doors.
With a free evening, you’re at liberty to step out and explore at your own pace.
Shanghai
Tuesday 20 November
On an introduction to Shanghai today, we tread the shady, 400-year-old pathways of Yu Garden and peruse the exhibits at the Shanghai Museum. Onwards, the tree-lined French Concession and the Chinese Quarter captures our attention.
A free afternoon presents myriad options. Stroll past the historical European-style buildings on the Bund or join the throng of shoppers on Nanjing Road.
Our dinner this evening showcases Shanghai’s culinary finesse. Bold flavours and complex techniques will delight our palates. Alternatively, stay cocooned in the comforts of your hotel, with dinner delivered directly to your door.
Shanghai, Suzhou
Wednesday 21 November
Outside of the city, we discover a quieter pace of life. Once lauded by artists, scholars and high society, the tranquil city of Suzhou is defined by its canals and delicate Chinese gardens.
On a full-day tour, we spend time at the World Heritage-listed Humble Administrator’s Garden. China’s largest traditional landscaped garden, built in 1509, presents a collage of ponds, pavilions, hills and bamboo forests all connected by whimsical winding pathways.
After lunch, we take to the canals. Sit back as we glide along the Grand Canal, past white-washed homes and under stone bridges. View ancient Pan Gate and later visit the famous Suzhou Embroidery Research Institute.
Back in Shanghai this evening, choose to dine at your hotel or step out to enjoy dinner among the frenzy of the city.

The Shanghai Maglev Train whisks us to the airport this morning where our journey concludes.
